Final Farewell

On Sunday, October 9, funeral services for Elizabeth were held near her home town in Pompano Beach Florida. The Air Force Director of Security Forces, Brigadier General Robert Holmes, Headquarters US Air Force, Pentagon, Washington DC, attended. General Holmes presented the US Flag that draped over Elizabeth’s casket to her family and expressed the condolences of an extremely grateful nation to the family. Ed Garcia, Major USAF, Retired, Space Coast Chapter of the Air Force Security Police Association (since renamed the Air Force Security Forces Association), reported that over a 100 Air Force Airmen were in attendance. Members of her Air Force Security Forces family were noticeably present as were contingents from the 17th Security Forces Squadron at Goodfellow AFB Texas (Elizabeth’s home Squadron), the 6th Security Forces Squadron from MacDill AFB Florida and the 45th Security Forces Squadron from Patrick AFB FL.

Air Force fighter jets streaked over head to pay a final tribute to Elizabeth as Airmen played taps and presented a final, 21-gun salute.

Elizabeth’s family thanked the military members for attending and for keeping our country free and for their continuing sacrifices for a free Iraq.
