Air Force Approves Elizabeth N. Jacobson Award FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 12 2006. Air Force approves the Elizabeth N. Jacobson Award for Expeditionary Excellence. A1C Elizabeth Nicole Jacobson was the first Security Force member and the first AF female to be killed in action in Iraq. An initiative sponsored by Gen Robert H. Holmes and Chief Master Sergeant Bruce Broder, this new annual Security Forces award will formally recognize the war fighting contributions and outstanding accomplishments of our youngest warriors, our first-enlistment Security Forces Airmen. Gen Holmes and Chief Broder are the Air Forces top security forces officer and enlisted member, respectively. In a statement released May 12, General Holmes stated, "Elizabeth and her courage, compassion and contribution to both our nation and society will not be forgotten. She was a truly exceptional woman and will be remembered each year as we honor the next generation of outstanding young Security Forces Warriors."	The Jacobson Expeditionary Award recognizes airmen for their accomplishments while deployed.  Airmen are first recognized at the unit level, they then compete at the Major Command and then at the Air Force level for the annual recognition.  This page contains a mixture of airman who received the award at all levels. In early April 2007, Brigadier General Mary Kay Hertog, Headquarters U. S. Air Force Director of Security Forces, presented the first recipient of the Elizabeth N. Jacobson Award for Expeditionary Excellence to Senior Airman James Dixon. SrA Dixon, the awardee for the 2006 calendar year,  is assigned to the 75th Security Forces Squadron, Hill Air Force Base Utah. Senior Airman Dixon demonstrated excellence while deployed to Iraq. While serving in Baghdad Iraq, Airman Dixon was the first to respond on scene to a burning apartment and led the evacuation of 150 Iraqis. He was also the first on scene to respond to an attack of 15 rockets and mortars where he evacuated the impact area and shielding 300 people from danger.
